Fred Carter, Board President
Frederick Carter is a 1985 Lockhart High School graduate. He has been a state football and basketball official for over 30 years. Fred has worked with Lockhart Community Education since 2004, as a youth coach and basketball official. He established and coached AAU girls basketball in Lockhart from 2017-2020. “I enjoy giving back to the community that gave me a chance to achieve my goals and dreams”. Fred continually pours into the Lockhart Community and selflessly devotes his time to our youth.
Nick Metzler, Vice President
Nick is a home-grown lifelong resident of Lockhart of 41 years and graduated from LHS in 2000. Nick played basketball starting with the Jake Wade Community League in the early 90s up through LISD until he graduated. Happily married to his high school sweetheart of 18 years, Kendra, and share 3 children. Nick has been heavily involved in the community for the past 20 years. Nick emphasizes development and fundamentals in all aspects of any activity. He can be most recognized in his capacities as a Community Ed Basketball Coach, Lockhart Basketball Academy Vice President and coach, Little League Manager and Board Member, Future Farmers of America Booster Club President and founding member, Lockhart Youth Soccer Association Board Member, LISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Member, Lockhart HS STEM Advisory Committee, and Education Foundation for Lockart ISD Board Member. He is currently an IT Manager, managing two teams for the University of Texas at Austin, as well as owning an IT consulting business with various support contracts in the Lockhart and Central Texas area.
Vicky Lewis, Treasurer
Vicky Lewis is a 1999 Lockhart High School graduate. She lives in Lockhart with her husband and is a mother of two. Her oldest is also a LHS graduate who is currently working on her masters. Her youngest attends LJHS and is a part of the basketball program. He also has played for basketball programs prior to attending LJHS. Vicky enjoys volunteering and being involved in programs that help the youth grow, build confidence and skills
Apryl Santana, Secretary
Apryl Santana is a 2002 Lockhart High School graduate. She is a mother of three boys, all who have attended Lockhart ISD and have been active in Lockhart Athletics. All three of her boys have been involved in the Lockhart ISD Basketball program from an early age. Her youngest son is in the basketball program at the Junior High level and her middle son is on the Varsity Basketball team at LHS. Her oldest son was also involved in basketball and track/xc and went on to run track and cross country at Texas A&M University. “I have a heart to support programs that pour into our student athletes and help build them up within our community, allowing them to develop an understanding of their potential”. Apryl has previously worked as a teacher in LISD. She is now a Licensed Professional Counselor who serves our community and surrounding areas. She is an active member of Lockhart Athletic Booster Club and Caldwell County Aggie Mom Club. She enjoys being involved and volunteering in sports with her husband and 2 kids.
Joe Elliott, Board Member
Joe Elliott is a longtime basketball coach and non-profit leader in Central Texas. He lives in Lockhart with his wife and 3 kids and owns the recently launched Wild Roots outdoor, event venue off of HWY 86. Joe is excited to invest in the youth in our community both on and off the court through his innovative approach to help youth find their unique purpose and design.
